The Lagos political community has been thrown into deep mourning following the tragic death of Dr. Oluwafemi Olawale Adefulire, the only son of former Lagos State Deputy Governor, Princess Adejoke Orelope-Adefulire.

Dr. Adefulire, a UK-based medical doctor, reportedly died in the early hours of Wednesday, December 10, 2025, after undergoing an undisclosed surgical procedure in Dubai, United Arab Emirates.

A family source confirmed the incident to Vanguard, stating the death was unexpected and a devastating blow to the family. The deceased is survived by his wife and children.

The Lagos State chapter of the All Progressives Congress (APC) confirmed the development, with party spokesperson Seye Oladejo describing the incident as “the kind of tragedy most dreadful for parents,” adding that the entire party structure was shaken.

Princess Orelope-Adefulire, a prominent figure in Lagos politics, served as Deputy Governor from 2011 to 2015 under former Governor Babatunde Fashola. She currently serves as the Senior Special Assistant to President Bola Tinubu on Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), a role she was reappointed to in September 2023.
