- Bayelsa State Deputy Governor, Lawrence Ewhrudjakpo, has died after collapsing in his office on Thursday evening in Yenagoa.
- He was rushed to the Federal Medical Centre but was pronounced dead shortly after arrival. While the state government has not issued an official cause of death, early reports link the incident to stress from a heavy workload.
- His death follows a period of political tension, as he had refused to join Governor Douye Diri in defecting to the APC and had recently sought a court order to halt an alleged impeachment move by the Bayelsa State House of Assembly over his continued stay in the PDP.

The Deputy Governor of Bayelsa State, Lawrence Ewhrudjakpo, has been confirmed dead after collapsing in his office on Thursday evening in Yenagoa.
According to multiple reports, the deputy governor suddenly slumped while at work and was rushed to the Federal Medical Centre (FMC), Yenagoa. Medical personnel reportedly pronounced him dead shortly after his arrival at the hospital.
Although the state government has yet to release an official cause of death, early reports suggest that the collapse may be connected to a heavy workload in recent weeks.
The sudden passing comes amid recent political tension. Before his death, Mr. Ewhrudjakpo had maintained his distance when Governor Douye Diri defected to the All Progressives Congress (APC) in October.
The late deputy governor had also approached the Federal High Court in Abuja seeking to stop the Bayelsa State House of Assembly from proceeding with an alleged plot to impeach him for remaining in the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).
