Famous Nigerian comedian Afamefuna Klint Igwemba, widely known as Klint Da Drunk, has revealed that a performance by music star 2Face (now 2Baba) convinced him to abandon his early music career.

Speaking in a recent interview with Naija FM Lagos, Klint Da Drunk explained that he was pursuing music while studying at the Institute of Management Technology (IMT), Enugu.

The turning point came when 2Face, who was also a student at the school, performed at an event.

I used to be a musician until 2Face got admitted to my school, IMT. One day when he got on stage to perform at an event on campus, I left the hall. The organisers pleaded with me to stay back and perform when he is done,” he recalled.

Da Drunk revealed that 2Face’s talent was immediately intimidating:

“I accepted but after hearing him sing just two lines, I went home. I didn’t know that my style and 2Face’s style were different. If I had known, I would continue making music. But thank God I didn’t continue. I like where I am.”

Despite briefly co-founding a music group that came second in the Star Quest talent show in 2002, Klint Da Drunk shifted his focus entirely to comedy, a career move he says he does not regret.
