On the 10th anniversary of the Zaria clash, Islamic Movement in Nigeria (IMN) leader Sheikh Ibraheem El-Zakzaky criticized the government for ignoring the massacre that resulted in the reported deaths of over 1,000 civilians.
The 2015 crisis began when IMN members clashed with soldiers whose convoy they blocked. El-Zakzaky said that despite a judicial inquiry report submitted in 2016, no government has released the findings or compensated victims.
Regarding the late President Muhammadu Buhari, who was in power at the time, the IMN leader stated that he must answer to a higher authority.
He said: “As for Buhari, it’s simple. He has passed away. We will meet on the Day of Judgement… The equation of Buhari is over.”
El-Zakzaky insisted that the current administration must address the “injustice” without being prompted because “They know a wrong was done.” He confirmed that the IMN is pursuing legal action at the international level.
