A newlywed couple was abducted from their home in the Aviele Community, near Auchi in Edo State, throwing the community into panic and sparking widespread outrage.
The couple was reportedly seized around 8 PM after returning home from town. Witnesses alleged the abductors were Fulani herdsmen who took the couple into the bush.
Activist Harrison Gwamnishu shared a viral video containing a chilling ransom message from the victims to their family. The husband, pleading in fear while his wife cried, disclosed the immediate danger and the kidnappers’ demand:
“Abeeg make una help us, abeeg make una help us, my wife get belle. They want to sleep with her. Please help us.”
The husband further stated the disparity between their resources and the ransom amount:
“We only have ₦7 million in our account, and they are demanding ₦50 million.”
The victim’s brother confirmed the details of the abduction.
