Bayo Onanuga, Director of Media and Publicity for the All Progressives Congress (APC) Presidential Campaign Council, has provided an update on the release of the 38 kidnapped Christ Apostolic Church (CAC) worshippers in Kwara State, attributing their freedom to successful negotiation by security agencies.
The worshippers were abducted after a deadly bandit attack on their church in Eruku, Kwara State, on November 18, 2025.
Onanuga took to social media to state explicitly that no ransom was paid for the release of the victims. He credited the efforts of Nigeria’s security forces:
“The DSS and Military contacted the bandits, asked them to release the 38 worshippers. The bandits agreed and released them. We didn’t pay any ransom.”
