‘Our Goal Is To Use Education To End Poverty’- President Tinubu Tells Duke of Edinburgh

Tinubu stated, “Our goal is to use education to drive down poverty,” and highlighted reforms like a special education loan fund aimed at empowering the youth. Prince Edward acknowledged Nigeria’s reforms and mentioned upcoming International Award events in Lagos where 320 youths will be honored.

President Bola Tinubu met with the Duke of Edinburgh, Prince Edward, at the State House on Monday, emphasizing that his administration’s economic reforms are centered on youth empowerment and education.

Tinubu stated the core objective of his policies:

“Our goal is to use education to drive down poverty.”

The President highlighted that reforms prioritize skills development and opportunities for Nigeria’s large youth population, including the introduction of a special education loan fund. Finance Minister Wale Edun noted that policies are designed to expand youth participation and growth prospects, given Nigeria’s median age of 17.

Prince Edward praised Nigeria’s reforms and confirmed plans for the Duke of Edinburgh’s International Award events in Lagos, where 320 youths will be recognized for their contributions to national development.
