A Nigerian entrepreneur, Roberta Edu, has sparked conversation online after claiming that Nigerian men are the real gold diggers.
In a Facebook post, the Moppet Foods CEO shared a message she received from a younger man who professed his love for her and promised to be her “hubby” and friend.
According to Roberta, many Nigerian men publicly insist they don’t fancy older women or single mothers, but their attitudes quickly change when such women are financially stable.
She revealed that, despite being married with children, she still receives love messages from younger men who seem drawn to her success and wealth.
Roberta concluded by encouraging women to focus on financial independence, adding that once they become successful, men will naturally be drawn to them.
She wrote …
“Nobody digs gold more than a Nigerian man. All that talk about not marrying older women or single mothers? What they actually mean is they won’t marry broke older women or broke single mothers.
“If you’re a woman in Nigeria and you have money, just watch, young guys in their 30s will flood in, proposing marriage left and right. A lot of them are already married to richer women in their 40s while they themselves are in their 30s. If you think it’s love, look through any popular Nigerian man that has married an older woman, and ask yourself, why is the woman always rich?
“See this one, with all the family content I post on this street, he’s already building castles in the air. Shebi una see am?
“Wooh, woman go find money abeg. Don’t let anyone tell you that you won’t see husband, just have correct money. You’ll see very humble, fine young men ready to marry.”
