  • Activist Aisha Yesufu has said many Nigerians, including herself, feel uneasy seeing Peter Obi and Nasir El-Rufai together, citing El-Rufai’s past utterances and actions.
  • She shared the view in a video on her X page after both men were spotted at a recent event in Owerri, Imo State.

Human rights activist, Aisha Yesufu, has shared why many Nigerians, including herself, feel uncomfortable seeing former Labour Party presidential candidate Peter Obi alongside former Kaduna State governor Nasir El-Rufai.

Speaking in a video posted on her X page, Aisha said the discomfort stems from El-Rufai’s past utterances and actions, which continue to shape public perception of him.

Her reaction follows the recent appearance of Obi and El-Rufai together at a function in Owerri, Imo State, which sparked debates online.

Yesufu in a video on X said: “Seeing Peter Obi and Nasir El-Rufai together is a very hard one for a lot of people, myself included and for those who are supporting Peter Obi and seeing all the things El-Rufai did as governor of Kaduna State, his utterances and actions; anytime I see El-Rufai I’m thinking about Dadiyata.

“Even though we’ve met, we didn’t speak during the ADC unveiling. For me this is my test that politics is not a love affair.

“Does that mean that I have to be working in the same room with this person? But like I said, politics is not a love affair.

“So I want to say to everyone of us, yes a lot of us feel bad, angry, pained seeing El-Rufai with Peter Obi but let’s understand that in politics you have to deal with the good, the bad, and the ugly.

“Politics is not a love affair, so you want to be the leader of everyone.”
