May Edochie, estranged wife of Nollywood actor Yul Edochie, has demanded ₦1 billion in damages from her former lawyer, Emeka Ugwuonye, accusing him of defamation, cyberbullying, and breach of trust.
In a cease-and-desist letter issued by her lawyers, Graylaw Partners, May alleged that Ugwuonye has been spreading false claims about her on social media, creating platforms to tarnish her image, and even sharing her privileged information for money.
She further claimed that Ugwuonye once misrepresented himself as a lawyer despite lacking the proper legal standing.
“By so doing, you deceitfully exploited our client’s unawareness, held yourself out in a fraudulent manner, and are now making illegitimate profit from her privileged information in addition to your defamatory publications,” the letter read.
May stated that Ugwuonye’s posts have encouraged others to spread the defamatory claims, further damaging her reputation.
She is demanding the immediate removal of all such content, a public apology and retraction on all his platforms, as well as the payment of ₦1 billion in damages.
