A young Nigerian woman, Oreoluwa, has opened up about her harrowing health struggles that began in 2016, when she was just 14 years old.

According to her, it all started when her mother noticed that her walking pattern had suddenly changed. Although she felt no pain initially, the situation worsened within days, prompting a hospital visit to the Federal Medical Center. Doctors later delivered the life-altering news that she had a melted femur head on her left hip.

The only remedy, they explained, was a hip replacement surgery. But because of her age, she was told she had to wait until she turned 20.

From that moment, Oreoluwa’s life took a painful turn. She said she endured constant pain, withdrew from social life, and limped everywhere she went. Even simple tasks became unbearable, forcing her to rely on children younger than her to run errands.

Throughout the ordeal, her mother remained her rock—comforting her, easing her pain, and even supporting her training in fashion design so she could build a skill despite her health struggles.

In 2022, when she finally turned 20, doctors confirmed she could undergo the long-awaited surgery. But just as hope returned, tragedy struck: her beloved mother, who had been her strongest support system, fell ill and passed away that same year.
