Nigerian comedian and filmmaker Ayo Makun, widely known as AY, has refuted claims that he is attempting to reconcile with his estranged wife, Mabel Makun.

In a post on his Instagram account, AY called the reports “false, relentless, and insensitive,” describing them as deliberate attempts to mislead the public for clicks and engagement.

He emphasized that he has never made or authorised anyone to make such statements. AY noted that if he wished to share personal matters, he has the reach and credibility to communicate directly, rather than relying on “faceless blogs and rumour-driven platforms.”

Issuing what he referred to as a final warning, the comedian urged the public to ignore these stories. He also indicated that legal measures would be pursued against any individual or platform that continues to circulate defamatory content about his private life.

“Enough of the lies,” AY asserted, making it clear he will no longer allow false narratives about his relationship status to circulate.

For context, AY confirmed in 2023 that his nearly 20-year marriage with Mabel had ended. He expressed sorrow over losing his home and admitted to making mistakes that affected the marriage.
