Anambra State governor, Prof. Chukwuma Soludo, has dismissed politicians promising to serve only one term as either dishonest or in need of mental checks.
Speaking on Arise TV, Soludo said his remarks were aimed at rivals outside the North-Central zone who vow to do a single term if elected.
He argued such pledges are deceptive since no government can achieve meaningful progress in just four years.

“I said that in the context of the debate going on in my state. In a context where you have established a process of zoning and somebody wants to cut short that particular zoning. They come with this sweetener…’Oh if you give me this, I will only spend…’ They know they are being disingenuous. They came with that argument in 2017 when my predecessor was running for a second term. They came telling Anambra people, some people promising us including some people in the terrain today…Anambra peoole were quick to see through the indigeuty of that kind of promises and voted massively for APGA. We won 21 over 21 local government in that election. Nobody bought that crap as it were and now again, we are in for another election and some people are emerging again in the same state.
I am from the South. The North just finished and handed over to the South and the South will serve its term and go to the central. Now some people from the Southern Senatorial zone are showing up and saying If you vote for me I will spend only one term. Meanwhile you see the manifesto they are rolling out. You realize even if they were to spend 20 years, they wouldn’t even scratch it.
You are just playing on the peoples intelligence, thinking everybody is a fool. Anybody saying that is either being deliberately deceitful or there must be something not working right upstairs to take the entire people of Anambra state as fools”
