Anambra Government Dismisses 8 Security Operatives Over NYSC Assault

The Anambra State Government has dismissed eight operatives of the Agunechemba Security outfit following the brutal assault and public stripping of NYSC member Jennifer Elobor.

Ken Emeakayi, Special Adviser to Governor Chukwuma Soludo on Community Security, confirmed the dismissals at the agency’s headquarters in Awka, stating:
“The officers were pursuing suspected cultists on Tuesday when they attacked the corps member, an action totally outside the mandate of the agency and utterly condemnable.”

He added:
“Any officer found guilty of misconduct will face immediate dismissal and prosecution.”

Emeakayi assured that Elobor’s medical bills had been fully settled, her damaged belongings replaced, and a public apology tendered to her, her family, and the NYSC.

He emphasized that the incident would prompt reforms to restore public confidence in community security operations, stating:
“This administration is committed to professionalism, accountability, and respect for human rights in all security engagements.”
