Telecom giant 9mobile has officially rebranded as T2, unveiling plans to become a digital-first operator focused on innovation and customer experience.
CEO Obafemi Banigbe said the move marks a strategic transformation, not just a name change. The launch event was attended by Communications Minister Dr. Bosun Tijani and key industry stakeholders.
He said …
“We are no longer who we were; we are becoming something greater, more ambitious, and more in tune with the future.”
Under its new identity, T2 plans to become a fully digital operator, leveraging cloud technology, AI, and advanced analytics to deliver tailored products faster. The strategy targets Nigeria’s growing startups, creatives, and remote workers seeking fast, flexible digital solutions.
“Our challenges are reminders, not defeats,” Banigbe said, noting the company’s renewed focus on placing customer experience at the heart of its operations.
He expressed gratitude to regulators, shareholders, partners, and staff, dedicating the rebranding to “every Nigerian dreaming of something better.” He also called on the country to “reimagine, rebuild, and relaunch.”
he rebrand follows a three-year national roaming deal signed in July with MTN Nigeria, granting T2 customers wider coverage via MTN’s network, especially in underserved areas.
Formerly Etisalat Nigeria, the company entered the market in 2008, grew rapidly, but faced financial and regulatory challenges, leading to Etisalat’s 2017 exit and a rebrand to 9mobile before its latest transformation to T2.
