“I Refuse to Call Him My Cousin” – Lady Disowns Pastor Relative Over Anti-Peter Obi Remarks

A heated political debate has sparked a public family feud on Twitter after a user identified as Ikpemosi (@Toriaa_B) disowned a relative a pastor over his controversial comments regarding Labour Party leader, Peter Obi.

The drama unfolded after a video clip of the pastor went viral. In it, he backed Edo State Governor Okpebholo’s recent statement suggesting that Peter Obi should not enter Edo State without prior permission. Describing himself as a “proud Edo man,” the pastor went further to claim that Obi “will never get to Aso Rock.”

The remarks didn’t sit well with Ikpemosi, who took to social media to distance herself from the clergyman, identifying him as her mother’s elder brother’s son, but making it clear that she no longer considers him family.

“Unfortunately, that’s my mother’s elder brother’s son. I refuse to call him my cousin. Nobody in the family talks to him because he is rude, arrogant, and foolish. So you people should insult him. Big fool,” she wrote in a scathing quote post.

Her frustration didn’t end there. In a flurry of follow-up tweets, she criticized his behavior and accused him of insulting the family patriarch.

“Someone that insulted the head of our family. Useless big fool. Money wey you get, we go get am. Idiot. Carried his audacity to social media. Useless fellow. I am so pissed. Dfkm.”

The post quickly gained traction on X (formerly Twitter), with users reacting with shock, laughter, and comments about mixing politics with family ties.

As political tensions continue to rise ahead of the next election cycle, this incident highlights how deeply personal and polarizing political allegiance can be even within families.
