Nigerian travel vlogger Steve Ndukwu has raised concerns over what he sees as misplaced priorities among Nigerians after spotting a Tesla Cybertruck in a village in Ibadan.
Known for documenting his journeys across various countries, Steve shared his astonishment following a recent trip to southwestern Nigeria.
Seeing the electric vehicle in a rural setting, he commented on the country’s fascination with luxury items despite persistent challenges like poor infrastructure, unreliable electricity, and lack of basic amenities.
On his verified X account, @SteveNdukwu, he posted: “Nigerians will import luxury before infrastructure. No stable electricity, no charging stations, terrible roads, but somehow a Cybertruck is chilling at a backyard in someone’s village in Ibadan. Priorities on premium madness 🤣.”
The tweet quickly drew reactions, with many agreeing with his point, while a few others offered differing perspectives.

Netizens Reactions…
@compoundinnaira: “Maybe the guy has set up his own infrastructure? If someone can afford to bring this into Nigeria, they should be able to afford 20-30M for a good power wall and solar set up.”
@zubidavies: “If we don’t quickly jumpstart our economy and industrialise very quickly, exchange rate will never come down. Only up. Because we will keep importing not just luxury but basic needs as luxury. Emphasis on quickly because these countries are phasing out fossil powered vehicles and replacing them with EVs. Imagine they stop producing them (maybe not now) or they only produce them for export to countries that have delayed catching up. It’s scary.”
@yearnerweb3: “Is the guy that owns the cyber truck suppose to provide that infrastructure?”
@ahsam254: “This is an individuality problem. People are trying to make more money so that they can escape the real problems, which are bad leadership. Now, is he gonna drive around with his own charger or what?”
