Singer and songwriter Vicky Jay has delivered a heartfelt message to Nigerian music legend Innocent Idibia, popularly known as 2Baba, urging him to remain strong and rise above negativity, fake friends, and online drama.
The message, currently circulating on YouTube and social media platforms, combines spoken-word music with lyrics dedicated to the veteran singer.
In the piece, Vicky Jay celebrates 2Baba’s decades-long contribution to Nigerian music. He said, “For decades you’ve been giving us reason to be happy, yes ooo. Your voice, your music, always a soul revival right from Plantashun days to Kennis Music.”
He describes 2Baba as his brother, mentor, legend, and motivator before advising him not to get lost in the noise surrounding his personal life. According to him, “2Baba, what’s really going on? Don’t let anybody change your identity. You’re stronger than the shadows whispering negativity.”
Vicky Jay also encourages 2Baba to distance himself from people who may be worsening his challenges. “Cut off the fake friends, the ones wey pretend,” the lyrics read in part.
He adds that some people only create drama to stay in the spotlight, cautioning that not everyone deserves loyalty at the expense of one’s peace. “If to say na just me, nobody go challenge me, but I remember you said if love is a crime, I am willing to go to jail. But my brother, no be everybody you fit go jail for.”
The artist also reminds 2Baba that not all smiles are genuine: “No be everybody wey smile be true queen. Real queens uplift their kings, guide the home, respect the crown and bring peace within.”
Expressing concern over online conversations about 2Baba, he says it is painful to see “hungry bloggers feed on your story and frustrated strangers dance around your storms.”
“While some people call it karma or joke about the God of Annie, Baba, make you turn because it’s never too late to turn if the road gets rough. Some roads no be your road, some battles no be your battles.”
He emphasizes that 2Baba deserves peace and strength: “A true king needs a loyal, peaceful queen, not somebody wey go dim your light or break your royal spirit.”
Vicky Jay concludes with reassurance: “I just wanna let you know say you are my king. No matter what they say about you, your fans dey your back and I am one of them. This phase shall pass. You’re not the first and you no go be the last. Stay strong, look after yourself and your children.”
This message follows 2Baba’s recent appeal to his fans to stop interfering in his marital issues, warning that public attention is putting his wife, Natasha Osawaru, at risk. He shared the plea through an Instagram Story titled “A plea,” writing “help me,” and explained, “This is getting out of hand, and it’s becoming a dangerous situation. I know what fans can do; I know what people can do. I’m perfectly okay. This is putting Natasha at risk, it’s not fair to anybody.”
For context, 2Baba proposed to Natasha Osawaru in February and married her in July.
