Nollywood singer and actress Angela Okorie has issued a heartfelt public apology to her colleague, Mercy Johnson, following a heated controversy that recently drew the attention of law enforcement authorities.

Recall that on Wednesday, January 28, Angela Okorie was arrested by the Nigeria Police Force Cybercrime Centre in Abuja at her residence over allegations linked to online actions involving Mercy Johnson. She was subsequently detained at the Suleja Correctional Centre in Niger State before regaining her freedom.

After promising to address the issue, Angela fulfilled her pledge by releasing an emotional apology video on her Instagram page, where she openly expressed remorse for her actions.

In the video, the actress admitted that she is not perfect and acknowledged her mistakes, stressing that this realization compelled her to apologise.

“I just want to apologise to you. If it’s just my words, I am deeply sorry. You’re not a witch; you aren’t what people are calling you. This is to say, ‘I am sorry,’” she said.

Angela explained that her actions were influenced by several negative stories she had heard about Mercy Johnson, popularly known as MJ. According to her, these narratives shaped her perceptions and reactions toward the actress.

She further revealed that similar misinformation was also being fed to Mercy Johnson about her, a situation she said significantly fueled the misunderstanding and conflict between them.

At this point in her life, Angela stated that she is no longer interested in drama or confrontations, adding that her focus is now on her business, personal development, and peace of mind.

She also disclosed that she had already reached out to Mercy Johnson privately through a mutual colleague to tender an apology, which Mercy Johnson reportedly accepted wholeheartedly.

The public apology has since generated mixed reactions online. While many social media users commended Angela Okorie for taking responsibility and apologising openly, others argued that the damage had already been done.
