A social media user identified as George (@_99George) has stirred massive reactions online after sharing his frustrating experience with a friend who silently refunded a loan without notifying him.

In a viral post on X (formerly Twitter), George explained that he had lent money to someone who later repaid it weeks later — but without sending a message or screenshot of the transaction.

According to him, since he wasn’t aware that the money had been returned, he unknowingly spent it.

“I borrowed you money, you sent it back few weeks later without notifying me or sending me a screenshot. I spent the money unknowingly,” he wrote.

George said that when he later asked for repayment, the borrower claimed to have sent the money about a week earlier. To his shock, after checking his bank statement, he realized the alert was indeed there.

“I checked my account balance and it was showing zero, checked my history and I saw the alert truly… omo you’ll pay me that money again I swear to God,” he added.

The post, which has now garnered over half a million views, quickly went viral and sparked a heated debate online.

One user commented, “If you don’t check your alerts, that’s on you bro.”

Another joked, “The second payment will be your compensation for stress.”
