“You don’t need a church wedding to be married” — Reno Omokri

Nigerian author and attorney Reno Omokri recently shared his opinions on white/church weddings on social media.

The former presidential aide urged people to free themselves from religious servitude by expressing his opinion that a church wedding is not required.

Omokri asserted that, contrary to popular belief, a pastor or prophet cannot bestow holiness upon a marriage.

Instead, he emphasized that only the parents of the marrying couple are qualified to grant such sanctity.

In a series of tweets, Omokri stated:

“Someone said church wedding is necessary because pastors are God’s representatives on Earth. To that man, my question is this: What are your parents? Devil’s representative? No blessing on Earth is greater than parent’s blessing. After God, parents”

Omokri’s comments cast doubt on the significance of a church wedding, but he emphasizes the value of parental approval and their part in the marriage.

However, many people disagreed with his point of view, while others did so for valid reasons.
