Abroad-based Nigerian influencer Oju Babe has publicly expressed outrage following Mirabel’s admission that her earlier assault allegation was untrue.
In a video currently making the rounds on social media, Oju Babe did not hold back her disappointment. She accused Mirabel of misleading the public and stressed that such actions should not go without consequences.
According to Oju Babe, false claims of this nature damage the credibility of genuine cases and can have serious repercussions for innocent individuals. She pointed out that there are men across the world who have faced severe consequences, including imprisonment, due to wrongful accusations, and argued that situations like this only deepen the problem.
She further stated that the issue is bigger than personal betrayal, describing it as a matter of justice and accountability. Oju Babe also alleged that Mirabel received financial assistance from well-meaning supporters after sharing the initial story support she claims to have been part of.
Calling for transparency, the influencer demanded that all donations made in response to the allegation be returned. She maintained that many contributors gave generously out of sympathy and deserve refunds if the claims were indeed fabricated.
Beyond the financial aspect, Oju Babe emphasized the broader impact of false allegations. She warned that incidents like this could discourage real victims of abuse from speaking up, as they may fear not being believed.
In her view, holding Mirabel accountable would not only address the present situation but also serve as a caution to others who might be tempted to create similar narratives.
In her words:
“So Mirabel, you lied to us. You lied to me. You confessed on a voice call to VDM saying you lied. Nobody grabbed you. You lied. You know what save you? You don’t give any picture. You don’t point fingers at anyone. Because a lot of men are in prison and kirikiri are locked up abroad in other countries because of behaviors like this. You confessed to taking alcohol, cutting yourself. You now woke up, typed message, sent it to yourself, planned everything. Now that you don cast, you are saying we should help you, that you lied. No, no, no, no. All those pages, all those go fund. There was collective contribution to help this girl. You need to come to the front, please. Refund everybody back their money. That’s one. Two, I don’t know which account, some of us sent N40,000, N200,000, N300,000 to help you. Refund our money, please. We cannot help you now. We’ll help you when you come out of kirikiri. This should be an example to other people, other girls, both home and abroad. If you’re trying to do something like this, trying to come up with a cooked-up lie story, you’re hallucinating.
You have insomnia, you cannot sleep. You put yourself on drugs. You now wake up and it’s like, ‘Shh, like this?’ Oh, you got to face the consequences, sis. I’m sorry. There’s people that are actually going through situations, and they are not getting justice. They cannot come out. They cannot speak. Now, you did a caricature of a situation that people are actually going through in real life. And you want us to just let you go, forgive you like that? No. We’ll forgive you when you come out of kirikiri. Because you must be used as an example. Justice for the male boys that are actually lied on, serving jail time right now. But you, Mirabel, you must apologize to everyone that you lied to. When you come out, we will see what we can do for your situation. We use you as a scapegoat so other girls will know not to even try this rubbish.”
