Yoruba Nollywood actor Bamidele Tope Saint, widely known as Okemesi, has spoken candidly about a distressing period in his life that pushed him out of the spotlight and into severe hardship.
The actor, who has been missing from the movie scene for close to a year, shared his experience in a recent interview with fellow actor Tony Montana. During the conversation, Okemesi revealed that he suffered a serious spiritual affliction that left him paralysed, without shelter, and fighting to survive.
His disclosure comes just hours after the death of actress Ajara Lasisi, who passed away following a long struggle with a liver-related illness.
Tony Montana, visibly shocked by Okemesi’s weakened appearance, questioned him about the drastic change. Responding, the actor explained that everything started after what he described as a spiritual attack that rendered him unable to walk or speak.
“It was a spiritual attack. May God protect us from spiritual arrows,” he said.
Okemesi recounted that he was initially rushed to Island Hospital, where compassionate individuals helped raise funds for his medical treatment. Despite this, his condition worsened, and it became clear to those around him that hospital care alone was not enough.
As a result, they searched through his phone, contacted his elder brother in Osogbo, and informed him of the situation. According to Okemesi, his brother acted swiftly, arranging for his transportation to Osogbo.
He explained that upon arrival, his brother picked him up from the motor park and immediately took him to an Islamic cleric for spiritual intervention.
“It was a very serious attack. I was crippled. It was the prayers of people and God’s intervention that brought me back,” he stated.
The actor added that at the time, he could neither stand nor speak. However, after receiving spiritual items from the cleric, his condition began to improve.
“Within a few hours of using the spiritual items given to me by the Alfa, I started walking with the aid of crutches that same day,” he recalled.
Sadly, Okemesi revealed that his brother, who had been taking care of him, was later involved in an accident and also experienced marital challenges. These issues forced the actor to leave his brother’s home, leaving him without stable accommodation.
He said he eventually sought shelter within church premises, where he has been struggling to survive.
“I have nowhere to sleep and nothing to call my own. Even feeding is difficult. My fans are all I have left. I am appealing for help to get back on my feet, especially with accommodation,” he pleaded.
