A 28-year-old woman from Las Vegas, Ahmonique Miller, tragically passed away just hours after undergoing a Brazilian Butt Lift (BBL) and liposuction in Miami, Florida.
Miller had traveled with her sister, Kiera Barnes, to Florida on March 5 for cosmetic procedures at Avana Plastic Surgery. The surgery was performed on March 7.
Following the procedure, Miller was taken to Keyla’s Recovery House, a post-surgery care facility that has since been identified as unlicensed. She was reportedly administered medication that had not been prescribed.
According to accounts, Miller was put to bed between 12 noon and 1 p.m. However, concern mounted when she had not regained consciousness by the evening.
At approximately 9:30 p.m., staff at the recovery center found her unresponsive. Emergency responders were called, but she was pronounced dead by 10:26 p.m.
When authorities arrived at the scene, they found Miller face down, heavily bandaged, and already showing signs of rigor mortis.
A subsequent autopsy revealed that her death was caused by acute combined drug toxicity.

The incident has sparked renewed concern over the safety of cosmetic surgeries and the regulation of post-operative recovery centers, particularly those operating without proper licensing.
