- Former Kaduna senator Shehu Sani slammed the World Bank and IMF over their reports blaming President Tinubu’s policies for Nigeria’s worsening poverty.
- He accused both institutions of being “witches and wizards” who promote harmful economic reforms like subsidy removal and currency floatation, only to shift blame when poverty deepens.

Former Kaduna senator and APC chieftain, Shehu Sani, has criticised the World Bank and IMF following their recent reports on Nigeria’s deepening poverty crisis.
Reacting to the institutions’ claims that President Tinubu’s reforms have worsened poverty, Sani described them as “the witches and wizards who will tell you to remove subsidies and float your currency in the ocean and expect the miracle of wealth and prosperity, and when the results turns out to be poverty and misery, they blame you for taking the wrong dosage.”
He accused both organisations of pushing harmful, one-size-fits-all economic policies like subsidy removal and currency floatation, while blaming governments when their “magic wand” solutions fail.
