- A media aide to FCT Minister Nyesom Wike shared a throwback video of Rivers State Governor Sim Fubara kneeling to thank Wike after winning the 2023 election.
- The post, made amid their ongoing feud, has triggered mixed reactions, with some mocking Fubara and others defending his right to politically part ways with Wike.

The ongoing political rift between the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Nyesom Wike, and Rivers State Governor Siminalayi Fubara has taken a new turn following a social media post by Wike’s media aide, Lere Olayinka.
Lere shared a throwback video showing Governor Fubara kneeling to thank Wike shortly after being declared winner of the 2023 Rivers State governorship election. The clip, which resurfaced amid renewed tensions between the former allies, shows Fubara expressing gratitude to Wike, who was widely regarded as his political benefactor and anointed candidate at the time.
The video was posted as the political feud between both men continues to dominate public discourse, particularly in Rivers State. Many observers viewed the post as an attempt to ridicule Governor Fubara and underscore his past loyalty to Wike.
The resurfaced footage has since sparked intense reactions online. While some social media users mocked Governor Fubara, arguing that the video exposed his former dependence on Wike, others defended the governor’s right to assert his independence in office.
Supporters of Fubara noted that political fallouts are not unusual, pointing out that Wike himself has previously parted ways with allies who once played key roles in his political rise. They argued that kneeling in gratitude after an election victory does not permanently bind a leader to political subservience.
