- FCT Minister Nyesom Wike has dismissed claims that a faction of the Peoples Democratic Party is urging him to contest the 2027 presidential election.
- He described the reports as false and reaffirmed his loyalty to President Bola Tinubu, saying he has no political ambition for 2027.
- His spokesman, Lere Olayinka, clarified that the only meeting Wike attended was with southern PDP stakeholders to discuss internal party matters and not any presidential bid.

The Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Nyesom Wike, has dismissed claims that a faction of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) is “pushing” him to contest the 2027 presidential election.
Wike described the report as “another lie from idle minds who have nothing to contribute to the development of the country.”
His spokesman, Lere Olayinka, said, “As far as Wike is concerned, it is President Bola Ahmed Tinubu till 2031.”
He further stated that it was “shameful that the ‘pull Wike down’ elements could not reason beyond such kindergarten tactics,” stressing that “they need better brains to think for them.”
According to Olayinka, “Wike does not function in hiding. He does what he says, and says what he does. The Minister has made it clear where he stands as long as the 2027 Presidential election is concerned, he is with President Bola Ahmed Tinubu.”
He clarified that the only meeting held on August 20, 2025, was among PDP stakeholders from the South, to discuss the planned Lagos meeting aimed at micro-zoning party positions to the region.
