- Governor Umo Eno has criticised a contractor handling a hospital project in Akwa Ibom State for starting with the construction of a mortuary instead of essential medical facilities, insisting that his directive was to build a hospital, not prioritise a mortuary.
Akwa Ibom State Governor, Umo Eno, has expressed displeasure over the manner and sequence of work on an ongoing hospital project in the state.
A video shared on Facebook by former Special Adviser on General Duties to the Director-General of the Nigerian Meteorological Agency, Uche Nworah, showed the moment the contractor briefed the governor during an inspection visit.
During the interaction, Governor Eno interrupted the contractor and questioned the decision to prioritise the construction of a mortuary ahead of essential hospital facilities. The governor made it clear that such an approach was unacceptable, stressing that his directive was to build a functional hospital, not begin with a mortuary.
“Why did you start with mortuary, I said build a hospital and you started with a mortuary. Don’t say that again,” Eno said.
