Media personality Ifedayo Agoro has sparked conversation online after sharing her honest opinion about kneeling to feed a husband at weddings.
The founder of Diary of a Naija Girl, who got married to content creator Frank Itom in April 2025, explained that although she happily fed her husband during their wedding ceremony, kneeling was something she could not do.
In a recent interview making rounds on X (formerly Twitter), Agoro said she does not like the tradition where brides are asked to kneel while feeding their husbands during the ceremony.
She disclosed that while she fed her husband cake at her wedding, she chose not to kneel.
In her words:
“I don’t like it when you go for a wedding and they tell the bride to feed her husband kneeling down. I fed my husband cake, but I didn’t kneel. I don’t want to be a hypocrite. I can’t kneel.”
Her statement has since generated mixed reactions, especially among Nigerians who view kneeling as a cultural symbol of respect in marriage.
While some people believe traditions should be maintained, others argue that couples should be free to decide what respect looks like in their own homes.
Many social media users said they could relate, with one writing, “Same! I can’t kneel either. Respect is about how you treat your partner.”
Another commented, “Tradition is important, but personal choice matters too. Couples should do what feels right for them.”
Ifedayo Agoro’s remark adds to the ongoing conversation about personal choice and tradition in Nigerian weddings.
