A group of youths in Ebonyi State have protested in Abakaliki, accusing Arise TV journalist Rufai Oseni of “disrespecting” former governor and Minister of Works, Dave Umahi.
The protest followed a heated TV exchange where Oseni asked Umahi for the cost per kilometre of the Lagos-Calabar coastal road. Umahi, visibly irritated, called himself “a professor of practice in engineering” and dismissed the question as “elementary.”
Oseni, however, insisted the minister respond, saying, “If you can just keep quiet and allow me speak, I will be happy.”
The protesters said, “That young man Rufai Oseni had the effrontery, the guts to ask Dave Umahi to keep quiet in the face of the whole world. As if that was not enough, he accused him of reporting him to Mr President. Who is Rufai for godsake?”
They gave Oseni and Arise TV 24 hours to apologise to Umahi or face continuous protests.
