We’ve Not Received the $100,000 Promised by FG Yet – Super Falcons Captain Rasheedat Ajibade

  • Speaking in a recent interview, Ajibade said none of the players or officials have received any of the benefits announced by President Bola Ahmed Tinubu following their triumph.
  • After winning their record 12th WAFCON title in Morocco, the Super Falcons were hosted by President Tinubu at the Presidential Villa, where he announced $100,000 for each player, $50,000 for each technical staff, national honours (OON), and a three-bedroom apartment for every squad member.

Captain of Nigeria’s Super Falcons, Rasheedat Ajibade, has revealed that the team is yet to receive the $100,000 cash reward promised to them by the Federal Government after their victory at the 2024 Women’s Africa Cup of Nations (WAFCON).

Speaking in a recent interview, Ajibade said none of the players or officials have received any of the benefits announced by President Bola Ahmed Tinubu following their triumph.

We have not received our money, but hopefully, it would be paid. They have not paid, all the promises – we have not received anything,” she stated.

Recall that after the Falcons clinched their record-extending 12th WAFCON title in Morocco, President Tinubu hosted the team at the Presidential Villa, Abuja, where he announced a $100,000 reward for each player, $50,000 for each technical staff, national honours (OON), and a three-bedroom apartment for every member of the squad.

While the announcement was widely celebrated at the time, Ajibade’s revelation has sparked fresh debate among fans and sports lovers over the government’s commitment to fulfilling its pledges to athletes.

In other news…. Veteran entertainer Charly Boy recently stopped by the newly renamed Olamide Baddo Bus Stop, a location that previously bore his name.

Rather than take offense, the Area Fada approached the change with humor, noting that it’s “just a street” and not something worth stressing over. He joked that if the renaming trend continues, major landmarks like the airport or even the National Assembly might also get new titles.

Charly Boy said he found it amusing that some people were trying to “show Fada power” by altering the name, but he personally remains unconcerned. For him, life is too short to be upset about a bus stop especially one he never benefited from.

He shared on social media:

“My people, U can already guess where your Area Fada dey?

Olamide Baddo Bus Stop!

Yes o, na the same bus stop wey una sabi since… now na Baddo get am. Street na street, e no get age limit, abi?

I just dey inside car dey laugh yeye people wey wan show Fada power.

The Emperor of Nigeria go soon rename everywhere. Next thing, dem go name airport after one DJ, then call National Assembly ‘Comedy Central’. Yeye dey smell.

For me? I still go dey fresh, I still dey cruise, and I still no send anybody wey no like am. Life too short to dey vex for bus stop name change, when I never chop.

Dia Father’s.”
