“We Thought Our Messiah Had Come”- Actor Alapini Oosa Regrets Campaigning Tinubu

  • Alapini Oosa, regrets supporting President Bola Ahmed Tinubu in the 2023 elections.
  • In an interview, he shared feelings of disappointment among himself and other Yoruba actors regarding their support.
  • They feel neglected after investing their efforts in Tinubu’s campaign, only to be overlooked once he took office.

Veteran Yoruba actor Ganiu Nafiu, popularly known as Alapini Oosa, has expressed deep regret over campaigning for President Bola Ahmed Tinubu in the 2023 elections.

In an interview on Behind the Fame African A-List TV, Alapini Oosa opened up about the disappointment he and fellow Yoruba actors feel after giving their all to support Tinubu, only to be left behind once he assumed office.

In his words:

“We thought our messiah had come. We used our hard-earned money to campaign for Tinubu. We spent like two months. We didn’t see anything. Look at my friend, Olaiya Igwe. He went naked to pray at the beach for Tinubu. He was also abandoned.”

The actor also criticized Seyi Tinubu, the president’s son, for overlooking the sacrifices of those in the Southwest while assisting people in the North.

He said:

“Seyi Tinubu was giving people in the North money for hospital bills, but what about the people in the Southwest? Don’t we have sick people too? Didn’t Seyi Tinubu see the old actors that came out to campaign for his father?”

Alapini’s remarks have stirred widespread reactions online, especially among Nigerians who followed the election closely. His emotional interview highlights the growing concerns about post-election neglect among grassroots supporters of the ruling party.
