Veteran Nollywood actress Omotola Jalade-Ekeinde has finally addressed long-standing rumours of a feud between herself and fellow actress Genevieve Nnaji.
For years, reports have circulated suggesting that the two Nollywood icons were not on good terms. However, Omotola dismissed the speculation during a recent interview on Yanga FM.
Clarifying the situation, the actress stated that there was never any fight between them, noting that people do not necessarily have to be best friends to coexist peacefully.
“We don’t need to be best friends,” Omotola said while reacting to the rumours.
She went on to blame fans for fueling the false narrative, explaining that the alleged quarrel only existed in the public imagination.
“Na them start the quarrel before we know say we dey quarrel. So, we have to catch up with the quarrel. There was no quarrel,” she said.
When asked by the interviewer if there was ever a disagreement that lasted for many years before their collaboration on the EJ movie, Omotola maintained that there was no real conflict between them.
Omotola replied: “People don’t need to be best friends, but we talked. Like behind film, we dey talk normally. You know the same thing that they do with all these music stars, na we dem take start all those things that time. Na we be the practice that time. You know all this Wizkid, Davido now that they have taken to different level, na we be the first one now. Really, na them start the quarrel before we know say we dey quarrel. So, we have to catch up with the quarrel. There was no quarrel.
“We were young, everybody dey do her own thing now.byou know how the industry is. You know, them go pitch you against this person, talk say na this one be the hottest girl, na that one be the hottest girl. So, those kind tension go dey normally, but people they read am as other things.”
