UAE Approves 10-Year Golden Visa
The United Arab Emirates (UAE) has extended its golden visa system to cover more people who are specialists in Artificial Intelligence (AI), big data, virology, epidemiology, and UAE-based physicians and engineers in the fields of computer science, electronics, and programming, electricity and biotechnology.
This was revealed in a series of tweets on Sunday, November 15 by Sheikh Mohammed Bin Rashid Al Maktoum, the country’s Vice President/Prime Minister who is also the ruler of Dubai.
He also added that the golden visa will cover graduates from UAE universities with a GPA of 3.8 and above as well as all PhD holders in the country.
The tweet reads:
“Today, we approved granting the 10-year Golden Visa to all PhD holders in the UAE. Also, the Golden Visa will be granted to top graduates from UAE-accredited universities with a GPA of 3.8 and above.”
“UAE Golden Visa will also include UAE-based physicians as well as engineers in the fields of computer science, electronics, programming, electricity and biotechnology.”
“Other categories granted UAE Golden Residency are specialists in AI, big data, virology, epidemiology & UAE’s high school top graduates and their families. We are keen to embrace talent that drives future development and this is only the beginning.”
We understand the golden visa system which gives long-term residency visas to certain category of immigrants (majorly top professionals) into the UAE was first announced in 2018, but got operational in 2019.
However, this new development is coming only a few days after the UAE relaxed certain laws criminalizing alcohol consumption and fornication.
According to reforms, unmarried people can now live together, alcohol restrictions have been loosened, and penalties have been scrapped for alcohol consumption, sales and possession for those above 21 years.
This ensures that Muslims who have been barred from getting licenses to drink alcoholic beverages freely, can now do so.
