Two brothers, Isaac and Victor Olayere, have escaped from their kidnappers after the abductors reportedly fell asleep in the forest.
The incident occurred along the Adughe–Imoga Road in Edo State on November 8, 2025. The kidnappers had demanded a ransom of ₦22 million before the victims miraculously regained their freedom.
Confirming the development, the Okpahi of Imoga Kingdom, Oba Patrick Obajoye, told Punch:
“The two brothers were kidnapped on November 8 along the Adughe-Imoga Road and were taken into the bush. Later, the kidnappers reached out to the family and demanded a ransom of ₦22m, throwing the community into confusion.”
He said he had reported the matter to the Ibillo Police Station, hoping for a rescue operation.
“It was said that somehow, the kidnappers suddenly went into a deep slumber in the forest, enabling their victims to escape. They were found by vigilantes from Adughe, a neighbouring community in Kogi.”
Oba Obajoye called for stronger security in the area, saying:
“We need police presence in Imoga. If a police post is created here, the officers will patrol the community, which will give residents rest of mind.”
He added that kidnappers and armed herders have become a serious threat, noting:
“Imoga is the largest village in Akoko Edo in terms of land mass. It links Edo State to the northern part of the country and has been infiltrated by herders.”
