Tragedy in Enugu: 22-Year-Old Hairdresser Reportedly Dies After Discovering Boyfriend’s Affair

A 22-year-old hairdresser, identified as Miss Odama Mary Agado, has reportedly died in Enugu after allegedly consuming a harmful substance upon discovering her boyfriend’s relationship with another woman.

Heartbreaking Discovery Leads to Tragedy

According to a report by Vanguard, Mary, a hairstylist from Woleche-Ipuole in Yahe Ward, Yala Local Government Area of Cross River State, was said to have ingested a poisonous chemical believed to be sniper after catching her boyfriend cheating.

Sources revealed that the young woman had been doing well in her hairdressing business and had even bought a car and rented an apartment for her boyfriend.

Family Speaks: “She Was Heartbroken”

A family member, identified as Daniel, said the tragedy occurred after Mary paid a surprise visit to her boyfriend’s apartment last Friday, only to find another woman there.

“She became very angry and left for her own apartment. There, she called her mother and explained what happened. She also told her mother to take whatever happened in good faith, saying she wouldn’t live again,” Daniel recounted.

Mother’s Helplessness and Sudden Death

According to reports, Mary’s mother could not reach her daughter immediately because she had no airtime to call back. Moments later, she received the devastating news that Mary had allegedly consumed poison and was rushed to the hospital.

Despite the doctors’ efforts, she was pronounced dead later that evening.

“Immediately the body arrived, we dug a grave and buried her because she was too young to be kept for a customary burial. We are still in shock. Some people say she was spiritually manipulated, but no explanation can bring her back,” Daniel added.

Burial in Cross River State

Mary’s remains were taken back to her hometown in Yala, Cross River State, where she was buried the next day.

Her sudden death has left her family and community heartbroken, with many Nigerians online lamenting the rising cases of depression and emotional distress among young people.
