- Former Senator Shehu Sani has likened the ongoing feud between FCT Minister Nyesom Wike and Rivers State Governor Siminalayi Fubara to a “Tom and Jerry” cartoon, describing it as predictable yet chaotic.
- The dispute intensified after Fubara questioned Wike’s loyalty to President Bola Tinubu, prompting Wike to warn that performative support would not guarantee a 2027 ticket, stressing that political harmony and legislative cooperation are key.

Former Senator Shehu Sani has weighed in on the escalating feud between FCT Minister Nyesom Wike and Rivers State Governor Siminalayi Fubara, comparing the political drama to a classic cartoon rivalry.
The rift between the former allies reignited this week as both parties exchanged words regarding loyalty to President Bola Tinubu and the 2027 gubernatorial race.
Known for his witty social media commentary, Shehu Sani took to X (formerly Twitter) on Tuesday to describe the predictable yet chaotic nature of the ongoing conflict.
“Wike Fubara issue has turned into a Tom and Jerry series.”
The latest spark in the feud came after Governor Fubara publicly questioned the “directness” of Wike’s support for the President. In a sharp rebuttal, Wike warned the Governor that performative displays of loyalty, such as singing pro-Tinubu songs, would not secure his political future.
“Sudden support of President Bola Tinubu by singing on ‘your mandate we shall stand’ won’t guarantee a ticket in 2027.”
The Minister emphasized that any support for Fubara’s re-election would be strictly conditional, focusing on the Governor’s ability to maintain political harmony within the state.
“Fubara must show that he is a trusted man who can effectively work with the state’s legislators.”
