Nollywood actor Tobi Makinde has addressed ongoing rumours suggesting he is at odds with his senior colleague, Funke Akindele.
Speculation about a possible fallout began months ago after a video surfaced online showing both actors seemingly ignoring each other at an event. Their perceived tension drew attention, especially given their once-close relationship, which developed during Makinde’s time on Jenifa’s Diary. The situation also gained traction during the past disagreement involving Mercy Aigbe and Akindele, when colleagues referenced Makinde and Akindele’s bond.
In a recent interview with BBC Pidgin, Makinde responded to questions about the alleged rift, sparking fresh reactions from fans. He explained that his connection with Akindele began through social media and insisted it wouldn’t simply end there.
Makinde added that social media often creates its own narratives, referring to the actress respectfully as “madam.” He noted that as people grow, relationships can sometimes seem distant, but emphasized that Akindele remains an important part of his journey in the film industry.
Speaking further, the actor shared insights into his early beginnings, revealing that his father played a key role in introducing him to acting. He started performing at the age of seven after being connected to a film producer.
He also opened up about the challenges actors face, highlighting the difficulty of attending auditions and waiting for callbacks. According to him, many producers fail to follow up even after making initial promises.
