A Nigerian man has taken to social media to recount his encounter with officers of the Nigeria Police Force in Ajah, Lagos, alleging harassment and attempted extortion.
According to the man, the incident occurred while he was transporting a used battery, which he claimed belonged to him. He alleged that the officers stopped him and questioned him over the lack of a receipt for the item.
Narrating his experience, he said, “Nigerian police officers held me here in Ajah, Lagos because I’m carrying a used battery without a receipt. I told them to take me to the station so I can make a statement, but they refused. They are still with my car papers.”
He further explained that he was willing to cooperate with any legitimate investigation but insisted on due process.
“I was transporting used battery. If they want any investigation, they can take my details from my driver’s license,” he stated.
The man also alleged that he understood the officers’ intentions but chose not to comply.
“I already know what they wanted, but I told them I’ll never give them shishi,” he added.
The incident has since sparked reactions online, with many Nigerians sharing similar experiences and calling for improved accountability within the police force.

You can’t even defend these guys because the bad eggs among them has overwhelmed the good ones. You want to open office on the head of another person outside the office of the NPF. These guys are never beating the allegations. SMH
