Afrobeats artiste Seun Kuti has made a serious allegation involving a prominent Nigerian family, claiming they suffered a double loss after turning to faith-based healing for a terminal cancer case.
In a video that has since gone viral, Kuti narrated that the family sought spiritual help after medical experts overseas reportedly informed them that the woman’s illness could no longer be treated.
He stated that the patient was taken to the Redeemed Christian Church of God (RCCG) camp, where she underwent prayers and other religious activities, with assurances given that she would recover.
According to Kuti, despite continued prayers, the woman eventually passed away at the camp, leaving her family heartbroken. He further claimed that in the process, the family spent an estimated $250,000, motivated by hope for a miraculous healing.
The singer criticised what he described as the encouragement of faith healing in terminal medical situations, arguing that it can give families unrealistic expectations and prevent them from emotionally preparing for possible loss.
Kuti also alleged that following the woman’s death, Pastor Enoch Adeboye instructed the family to stop mourning and assured them he would pray for her revival. He claimed the family was asked to kneel beside the body for an hour while the pastor prayed privately.

Adeboye came out of his balcony, he didn’t even come down to meet them. He told them to stop crying. He will go inside to pray for her to wake up. As he pray for one hour she no wake up, e say na God call am, make them dey go house..”
