On Thursday, February 9, the Super Eagles players observed a minute of silence in memory of the four Nigerians who lost their lives on Wednesday, February 7, during their game against South Africa.
On Wednesday night, February 7, while watching the ongoing AFCON semi-final between Nigeria and South Africa, several people lost their lives: Cairo Ojougboh, an APC chieftain; Alhaji Ayuba Abdullahi, a Nigerian businessman based in the Ivory Coast; a serving member of the NYSC; and the deputy bursar of Kwara State University (KWASU), Malete.
The players assembled, held a moment of silence in memory of the Nigerians who had passed away, and then prayed for God to console their families and for the players’ spirits to rest in peace.
