Street cleaners in Plateau State were filled with joy after Governor Caleb Mutfwang announced a significant salary increase that will take effect from October 2025.
Under the new pay structure, cleaners in Jos and Bukuru metropolis will now earn ₦30,000 per month, double their previous salary of ₦15,000 which was already an improvement from the ₦8,000 paid under the former administration.
Speaking during an interview on AIT News Live, Governor Mutfwang confirmed the development, saying, “From the end of October, street cleaners will not earn anything less than ₦30,000 per month.”
Following the announcement, many of the workers were seen celebrating enthusiastically, expressing deep gratitude to the governor for acknowledging their efforts and commitment.
The salary increment forms part of Mutfwang’s broader initiative to revitalize the civil service and public sector in Plateau State.
