House of Representatives member and businessman Akin Alabi has sparked reactions on social media after revealing that there are times he has as little as ₦1 million in his bank account despite being widely regarded as a billionaire.
The discussion began after X user DREYLO (@RealDreylo) wrote: “There are normal boys walking around in Lagos with over 1 billion Naira in their bank accounts. Damn.”
Reacting to the post, Alabi explained that he does not like keeping large amounts of cash in his accounts, saying he prefers to spend or invest it.
“I dislike keeping cash. My hand will be itching like I should spend it. Add all my bank balances together and you can’t get N20m at a time.”
When another X user, Phransis69, questioned whether he meant he did not have up to ₦20 million in liquid cash, Alabi responded:
“I don’t. Sometimes I’m as low as 1m.”
