In other news…. Nollywood actress Iyabo Ojo has sparked controversy after posting a promotional video highlighting upgrades at Lagos’ Murtala Muhammed International Airport (MMIA).
The video, shared on Tuesday, February 10, showcased improvements made under President Bola Tinubu’s administration, executed through the Federal Airports Authority of Nigeria (FAAN).
In the clip, Iyabo Ojo commended FAAN while touring the renovated terminal, pointing out features such as spacious check-in areas, indoor greenery, charging stations, and enhanced lounges. She described the developments as a positive transformation.
“FAAN is improving in so many ways. Alongside the renovation of MMIA Lagos Terminal 1 and the beauty and comfort of Terminal 2, the Protocol Team’s service is exceptional. I’m proud of my country,” she wrote in her caption.
Despite the praise, the video faced political criticism. Many commenters on X (formerly Twitter), particularly supporters of the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC), questioned Iyabo Ojo’s involvement due to her backing of former Anambra State governor Peter Obi during the 2023 elections.
Some argued that pro-Tinubu celebrities like Toyin Abraham and Eniola Badmus would have been more appropriate for the promotion. Others, however, lauded the move as a smart way to engage Iyabo’s audience and dismissed the political backlash.
