Nigerian singer Paul Okoye, popularly known as Rudeboy, has opened up about his relationship journey and the defining moment he realised his wife, Ivy Zenny, was the right partner for him.
Speaking during an interview with Clout Africa, the music star described marriage as fulfilling but not something that should be approached with extreme pressure.
“Marriage is fun, but not a do-or-di£ affair,” he said, adding that separation is sometimes necessary when things do not work out.
Rudeboy also revealed that some of his songs were inspired by his personal experiences, including Reason With Me, which he said was influenced by a past relationship.
Reflecting on his journey after his previous marriage ended, the singer disclosed that he dated three different women, but none met his expectations until he met Ivy.
According to him, he was searching for peace in a partner — something he eventually found in her.
“She was just her real self,” he said.
He went on to narrate a moment that deeply impressed him. On one occasion, he offered to take Ivy shopping, but she selected only two items and remarked that the same amount of money could buy her many clothes at Tejuosho market. The gesture, he explained, stood out to him as a sign of her authenticity and simplicity.
“She was real,” the host noted.
“Thank you,” Rudeboy responded.
The singer also addressed his past legal issues involving the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC), stating that he has been cleared of any wrongdoing.
“And I’ve been cleared, by the way, by the EFCC. In due time, we’re going to put out the statement,” he said.
Paul Okoye was previously married to Anita Okoye, with whom he shares three children. He is now married to Ivy Zenny, and the couple share a daughter together.
