Nigerian singer Ceeza Milli has stated that he played an important role in identifying and supporting the talent of fellow musician Ayra Starr.
In a recent conversation with Yanga FM Lagos, Milli revealed that he first came across Ayra Starr while dating a woman who was her school mentor. He added that he even provided her with accommodation at some point, highlighting that his influence on her career is undeniable.
“At the time I discovered Ayra Starr, I wasn’t actively looking to manage artists, but I enjoy seeing talent develop. She can’t deny the role I played in her journey. I met her when she was very young still in school. She even stayed at my place for a while because of my ex-girlfriend’s connection to her school,” he said.
Ayra Starr gained widespread attention with the release of her debut self-titled EP in January 2021 under Mavin Records.
She has also mentioned that Mavin Records boss, Don Jazzy, reached out to her in December 2019 after discovering her music on Instagram.
