Content creator Habeeb Hamzat, popularly known as Peller, is once again trending online following a grand birthday gesture to his partner, Jarvis.
The streamer surprised the fellow influencer with a brand-new Mercedes-Benz GLE 450 reportedly worth millions of naira. In a viral clip that made the rounds on social media, Jarvis appeared visibly emotional, shedding tears as she received the luxury vehicle.
While some fans applauded the romantic move, others criticised Peller for what they described as excessive spending. A number of social media users also compared the gift to the car he previously bought for his mother, arguing that the birthday present for Jarvis appeared more extravagant.
Addressing the backlash during a live session, the TikTok personality defended his decision. He explained that the purchase was a statement of his financial status, claiming that gifting a car to one’s girlfriend publicly showcases wealth more than buying one for a parent.
Peller further clarified that the car was not an attempt to win Jarvis’ affection, but rather a reward he believed she deserved. He also hinted that he would go even bigger with future gifts if she eventually has a child for him.
“My mom wanted a Toyota worth ₦9 million, but I bought her a Hyundai worth ₦20 million instead. People would still have dragged me even if I’d bought her the ₦9 million Toyota. Am I the first person to buy his girlfriend a car? I love my baby. I didn’t buy Jarvis a car just so she can stay with me; she deserves it. I don’t care if she leaves me later. If Jarvis gives me a child, I’ll do even more than this.” Peller said in a video, responding to people criticising him for buying Jarvis a car.
