  • He claimed he bought the car from someone called “Zak” on WhatsApp but has no proof of purchase.

Ghanaian singer Shatta Wale has been granted bail of GH¢10 million with two sureties by the Economic and Organised Crime Office (EOCO).

He was invited Wednesday over a 2019 Lamborghini Urus seized from his home in June, allegedly linked to a $4 million fraud case involving Nana Kwabena Amuah, jailed in the US.

During questioning, Shatta Wale said he bought the car from “Zak” on WhatsApp but could not provide receipts or documents. EOCO’s statement read: “So far, Charles Nii Armah Mensah has been unable to identify the person from whom he purchased the said Lamborghini Urus vehicle except to say that he purchased it from the ‘Street’ and from someone possibly called ‘ZAK’… whose identity he does not know and whose contact he has thrown away.”

EOCO said he will remain in custody until the sureties present verifiable properties. Investigations continue, with Shatta Wale and a former National Signal Bureau officer named persons of interest. US investigators are seeking the car’s repatriation as part of Amuah’s $4.7 million restitution.
