Senator Natasha Set to Return to Senate on Tuesday After Court Lifts Suspension

Court Grants Suspended Senator Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan Bail on Self-Recognition

Suspended Senator representing Kogi Central, Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan, has announced her return to the National Assembly following a court order that overturned her suspension.

In a video that has gone viral online, the excited lawmaker was seen addressing jubilant supporters who gathered to celebrate the legal victory.

“I thank you for your support. I am glad we are victorious today. We shall resume in the Senate on Tuesday by the grace of God,” Natasha said while addressing the cheering crowd.

Recall that on Friday, July 4, Justice Anita Nyako of the Federal High Court in Abuja nullified her suspension, declaring the Senate’s action as unconstitutional and a violation of the rights of her constituents.

However, the judge also slammed a N5 million fine on Akpoti-Uduaghan after finding her guilty of contempt over a Facebook post deemed to have breached an earlier court order.

With the court ruling now in her favour, Senator Natasha is set to make a dramatic return to the Senate chamber on Tuesday, July 8.
