Speaking at the Los Angeles premiere of the upcoming Smurfs movie, the singer and business mogul shared heartfelt reflections on her father’s memory and the impact he had on her life and parenting.
Rihanna expressed her sadness that her father would never get the chance to play a role in the lives of her two sons, RZA and Riot. She shared that she had often imagined the kind of grandfather he would have been, especially recalling the qualities she loved most about him.
“I’ve always wanted that and I’ve always dreamed of what type of grandfather he would be to them because of the favorite parts of my dad. I think it prepared me for having two boys”, she stated.
Rihanna also spoke about how her father’s adventurous and free-spirited nature continues to shape her parenting style. She noted that she hopes to raise her sons with the same fearless energy and love for nature that her dad embodied.
“The adventure side of me, the outside side of me, the daredevil. It’s how I want to raise them and I want them to be outside and be in nature” ,She noted.
